Resources to guide your reading of Dante
Canto per Canto: Conversations with Dante in Our Time was a collaborative journey between the Department of Italian Studies and Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimò at New York University and the Dante Society of America. We set out with an exciting mission: to capture engaging conversations between diverse readers of Dante as they explored all 100 cantos of the Divine Comedy.
We brought together renowned experts and amateur enthusiasts to share what moved them about each canto of the Divine Comedy and how it speaks to us today. Released twice weekly every Monday and Wednesday from September 2020 to September 2021 — during the pandemic and in commemoration of the 700th anniversary of Dante's death — we completed all 100 episodes, bringing different perspectives into dialogue to celebrate Dante’s enduring relevance.
You can explore the complete collection of these conversations, archived to guide you through a reading of the poem canto by canto. Whether you prefer watching on our Youtube playlist or listening to downloadable audio files, these 100 discussions are waiting for you to discover.
